Sound of Hope – Every Child Deserves to Be Heard

A personal initiative by Olivia, in partnership with the Zanzibar Outreach Program (ZOP)

🔭 Our Vision

To build a world where every deaf child in Zanzibar is heard, included, and empowered through access to education, care, and opportunity — starting with the students at the School for the Deaf, a project by the Zanzibar Outreach Program (ZOP).

A Quiet Start. A Growing Vision.

Sound of Hope began with a moment — one that stayed with me long after I left Zanzibar. While volunteering with the Zanzibar Outreach Program (ZOP), I was introduced to the incredible work being done at the School for the Deaf, a ZOP initiative supporting children with hearing impairments.

I saw something both beautiful and heartbreaking: the dedication of local teams, and the immense need that remained. That moment became a mission. I knew I couldn’t walk away. So, Sound of Hope was born — to stay connected and create a lasting impact for the children at this extraordinary school.

Why I Started Sound of Hope

I founded this project because I believe no child should be unseen or unheard — especially those born into a world of silence. The children we support attend the School for the Deaf run by ZOP. Many still face barriers to hearing care, early diagnosis, and inclusive education.

Imagine a childhood without your mother’s lullabies, birdsong, or laughter — not because they don’t exist, but because you’ve never been able to hear them.

Through Sound of Hope, we support students from the School for the Deaf by providing:

  • Access to quality, inclusive education
  • Hearing aids and essential healthcare
  • Sign language tools and social support
  • Daily essentials like food and transport

We’re not here to speak for them — we’re here to help amplify their voices, however they express them.
